Introduction

Evidence-based Economics is a Computer Science

90% of large democracies are collapsing today, as reported by the rapid development of evidence-based civics and economics data sciences – like Transition Economics (TE). Since 2018,  civic science has created an explosion of data visualization and causality-based decision-support approaches that offer new learning – and truth – about what builds strong countries, good lives, and sustainabl human advance as well.

This new science has resulted in civic policy-making that can today reliably double economies and advance both societies and humanity.

90% of Large Democracies are Collapsing

Report Summary

Our findings were:

First: In our evidence-based Economics study of all large-population democracies (54 in all), 90% are collapsing today, with only 10% running with an “Advancing” status.

Second: ALL of these advancing nations run Constitutions that include FDR’s “Second Bill of Rights”, highlighting the essential role that the protection of Human Rights plays in any democracy; a form of government that Aristotle called “evil” without these protections.

Third: Accountable Monarchies have outperformed the G7 democracies for 30-years  now – without homelessness, and without the dystopic human rights problems that have become the hallmarks of large democracies today.

Notes:

  1. In evidence-based science, “collapse” is a term that indicates that important and often hidden problems exist. Every problem is solvable, and the first step to solving a problem is to recognize that there is one. A “collapsing” designation, therefore, is no insult nor derision; rather, it’s an essential “call for action” – to return nations to a performance-managed advancing score – with a high probability of advance.
  2. A basic assumption of evidence-based civics is that economies are high-transaction systems. This means:
    1. Collapse Policies – are policy decisions that create nationwide poor scores in causal indicators (economic and social survey measures that are proven to influence economics). Collapse Policies are mathematically certain to collapse any nation.
    2. Advance Policies – policy decisions that create strong scores in causal indicators, which advance any nation with equal certainty.

In evidence-based civics, social and economic indicators are scored side-by-side; see Transition Economics for this explanation. For example: the indicator “Aged 65+ males” is a 264th rank measure, while “GDP” is a 2000th rank report. This makes any nation’s “65+ males” score, a much more important indicator of economic advance or collapse than is “GDP”.

The Elephant in the Room

The Elephant in the Room for all of us today, is that we don’t teach evidence-based science in 75% of our university degree programs. And, we teach no evidence-based science in all civics faculties – law, economics, business, finance, government, education, and social studies.

The uncomfortable fact today is that our universities teach theory, (harmful) ideology, and proven-failed curricula, almost exclusively to graduates who will fill our boardrooms and decide national investment and business best-practices.

Universities act as consolidaters that trickle curricula down to feeder schools, which are all teaching theory-based harmful ideology as well today.

Education does not collapse societies;  Indoctrination collapses societies

Academia also actively blocks evidence-based economic and social science research in grad schools as well. The wide social and economic collapse that these studies create is very expensive. Every one of 207 nation loses an average $4 billion daily (50% to 100++% of their economies). Citations: “Our Academic Mediocracy“, “Educational Reform“, “The SCP Loss Report

Why does this counter-productive problem continue without correction?

Frankly, some of the reasons are ugly – and embarrassing. “Political influencing” and harmful ideologies are part of it, but the reason for these problems is more practical and basic.

We don’t teach civic science in universities because today’s economics and business professors are mathematician theorists. These teachers do not possess the skills needed to teach a computer science, nor to create an evidence-based STEM performance management curriculum.

The integrity of our University Governance Programs is shockingly insufficient.

Why are Civic Sciences and Constitutional Reforms, essential and urgent today?

EVERY large nation that follows Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Second Bill of Rights is advancing

EVERY nation that follows the US or Canadian list of rights, collapses every 60 years reliably

The realization that EVERY large-population nation collapses without a solid Constitution, makes Constitutional Reform and Democratic Reform top priorities in today’s collapsing global mature capitalism imbalance.

Transition Economics The Tytler Cycle

In this article, we examine the science behind both of these statements (above in green), to answer the question “Are these discoveries the powerful insights of an impressive new science, or are they baseless claims?”

Where do powerful insights originate?

The Book - The Scientific Update of the Bible

The discoveries above surfaced during an evidence-based Global Leadership Case Study of the Bible’s origins and teachings – back in 2021. The Bible is used and abused by religions, but it predates all modern religions and it’s not a religious book – but rather, a civics lesson book.

The Bible is a third-revision civics textbook that documents lessons learned over 2,000 years of civic rise and fall. Its storytelling format was necessary for the 99.9% illiterate audience of its era – as the Bible was always intended to be a civics instruction guide for the masses.

The Bible’s first five books are the Pentateuch, updates of two successful 4,000-year-old Constitutions. This fact is the reason why the Bible is the basis of 800 Constitutions worldwide since 1791 (according to Wikipedia).

WAOH World at our Hands LibraryThe author of this article isn’t religious either, I curate one of the world’s largest evidence-based econometric and quantitative Standard of Research libraries – WAOH.

The Bible’s messaging was twisted by religions to make themselves important. Obviously any religion is much more important when its priests are the only voice of a deity.

But the Bible doesn’t say that the God it talks about is a diety. The Bible repeats 20 times that God – is “Good”, and “Good” is a behaviour. Good – is not a diety.

“Good”, in actions and in laws, is an essential personal value that we all have to abide by every minute of every single day. We can’t believe we’ve been good all week, so surely we can murder and steal on the weekend – No. The brutish, uneducated, uncivilized humans of Roman times, needed to understand that

“God sees you when your sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake”

  • The Bible used a trinity of teaching tools – a father, son, and holy spirit; to teach good, respect (the Golden Rule), and Human Advance.
  • The word “Lord” means “law” in the King James Bible of 1611, so the “I am the Lord your God” means “I am a law – of good”.
  • “Jesus” is Greek for Joshua which in Hebrew means Saviour (of others).
  • “False Idols” were harmful utopic ideologies
  • “The Beast” was Oligarchy and wealthy merchant economic powers that have only ever collapsed societies through history
  • Modern Health Science studies have proven that 99% of human beings are born “good” (“in God’s image”) and able to empathize with others

We are all born good by Nature, but none of us are born with the innate ability to foretell what will be the result of the utopic ideologies used to manipulate voters, telling us anything we want to hear, in order to gain and hold power in democratic societies.

NutureIndoctrinations ask us to believe harmful ideologies (false idols), while Education protects us from falling victim to repeating the mistakes of old, proven-failed ideologies that ask us to behave in ways that are not good, not respectful, and that collapse any humanity.

Civics Education is needed by every member of a civilization, to warn us to protect against threats that leave entire nations vulnerable to collapse. This is especially true in Democracies where citizens are undefended by weak Constitutions.

Leadership

The ability to keep wealthy merchants accountable and regulated was always the strongest value of a Monarchy’s authority.

When imbalance required changes in society, Monarchs could make change happen.

Today’s accountable Monarchies in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Brunei, Jordan, Oman, and others, are advancing their nations at a far faster rate than collapsing democracies in the West.

If you grew up in the West, however, you’ll have been the recipient/victim of a 40-year advertising campaign that continually reinforced how a free-market economy was essential, and that we had no need of “horrible” Monarchy’s tyranny and regulation.

Monarchs have redirected revenues from the sale of their natural resources, to eliminate taxes and to seed local companies that propel citizens to prosperous good lives. Democratic voters never could do this and today they struggle to survive simple inflations.

50-year economic and ownership resets are an essential need of any unregulated capitalist nation (see Leviticus 25-26) to preempt the normal cost-of-living and income imbalances caused by merchant and employer greed, or by luck’s normal successes and failures.

Civic Science proves very clearly that people who have what they need are productive, and that the monetizing of this national productivity is a reliable “key to success” for any nation.

The USSR failed because its productions (its watches, cars, etc.) lacked variety and were of poor quality, so no other nation would buy them (they failed to monetize their production).

Aristotle called three forms of government “evil” – Democracy, Oligarchy, and Tyranny; while “good” forms were Polity, Aristocracy, and Monarchy.

Our Constitutions are supposed to make our democracies Polities, but let’s test scientifically how true is that statement next.

Can our Democracies become Aristotle’s Polities?

Absolutely – Yes, CSQ Research’s ACT Party thesis explains exactly how this works and how to vote for it, but we are not going to get there by our voting for the harmful ideologies that fill our ballot cards today.

We aren’t taught the difference between values and harmful ideologies today.

Similarly, German citizens were not warned in 1933 when serpentine messaging insisted that its citizens align with the NAZI party’s “values”, which of course were harmful ideologies.

Today again, our system of universities and politicians tells us that the Bible is religion and that nothing can be learned there.

In science, the Right’s Neoliberalism (Wealth Theory) collapses any nation reliably – just as it did in the 1920s.

The Left’s “Feminism” wins elections, and then it creates 40 serious social problems, poverty, economic collapse, and a Crime Against Humanity Genocide of 1.5% of 64 national populations annually.

Today, the only option offered by voter ballot cards – is collapse.

A political group’s false ideology might win an election when citizens don’t know any better, but these political groups will then have to spend billions of dollars annually to hide reports of the collapse that they create reliably – in order to have any hope of re-election. For these groups, hiding legitimate performance reports and mistraining the population in lessons of irresponsible civics and false ideologies, from a young age – will be essential.

Retraining a large population in scientific Civics – to advance, in what are meaningful terms, and also the importance of family values; is a task that requires hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising and programming on our TVs and Social Media. Like Pavlov’s dogs, we’ve all been conditioned to believe whatever our TV’s tell us  – and this access is protected (by high cost and by censorship too).

With no training in scientific civics, voters are vulnerable, and gullible too; democracy becomes manipulatable and loses integrity.

EVERY nation that follows FDR Advances

Without further ado, let’s introduce the science…

How did FDR’s success come about? FDR was a historian and engineer, and his people were Puritans – who wrote our English King James Bible in 1605. We call these Puritans “Pilgrims” and FDR, like the author of this article, was a descendant of the Mayflower as well.

Science is observation, and FDR realized that nations built upon all of the Rights described in the Bible’s Constitution were proven to be successful. I don’t think that he realized he had been raised on lessons taught by Hammurabi and Ur-Nammu’s Constitutions, he more likely understood that he could trust the methods of legitimate historians when creating a textbook of important insights and lessons learned based on events from the past.

FDR’s Second Bill of Rights became the United Nation’s Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights too.

These policies went on to build the greatest economy in history for the United States.

How are the countries that adopted FDR’s human rights into their Constitutions doing today?

A = Advance; C = Collapse, and the Percentages (%) are advancing scores within 25% of threshold values. TE thresholds are explained in our Science of 70% tutorial

FDR Constitution countries are Advancing across the board.

I also feel certain that if we taught the lessons of this article more clearly, it’s very likely that all 83 of the nations that use the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights today, would be advancing very consistently right alongside these larger economies too.

How did large Non-FDR (Non-Bible) Constitution Nations fair?

Collapse, collapse, collapse – with two Advancing Democracies and two? advancing Monarchies, out of 56 – 3 FDR nations with populations numbering over 20-million.

Large, Non-FDR Constitutions in this G20 group are consistently collapsing today. The only exceptions are a Monarchy – Saudi Arabia, Australia, China, and South Korea – and then things get worse quickly for all other high-population nations with lesser constitutions.

Small-Population High-Income nations fair the best, while large nations worsen as their income levels worsen.

How did Monarchies Fair?

Pure Monarchies have outperformed the G7 (large population democracies) for the past 25-years. There is rarely homelessness in Monarchies and conditions for citizens are typically better than in neighboring democratic nations also.

Monarchies are able to correct imbalance and social problems, where a large democracy with a weak constitution makes this impossible.

Another evidence of trouble, are today’s preventable mature capitalisms – recession and low productivity leading to Great Depressions. Simple regulation corrects this, and yet 90% of large democracies are collapsing – as we will soon see.

Accountable Monarchies – and also China’s single-party government, are consistently more productive, leading production growth over G7 nations for 25-years now consistently.

UAE
Saudi
Arabia
Kuwait Kuwait, like all other Monarchies, has out-produced the G7 for 25-years
Qatar
Jordan
Bahrain
Oman
Eswatini

Trade Balances

Three Trade Balance reports: High-Income, Middle, and Low-Income nations, show the relationship between productivity and economic advance.

Social Contracts

As national Social Contracts fall, Social Contract Loss (SCL) rises, despite the fact that the two are very different measures. Social Contract measures a mix of social measures (Longevity, Education, etc.) while SCL measures Export per Capita (an economic measure).

Comparing nations by Civics’ Top Ten measures …

Transition Economics’ Top Ten most highly causal measures used in this report – Savings Growth, Export per Capita, Gross Spending, Males 65+,

All nations over a population of 20 million are collapsing in today’s global mature capitalism, with the exception of the FDR Nations and just a couple of others…

Summarizing Advancing and Collapsing Constitutions

The reporting of our Collapses and Financial Losses is an important first step in an essential Constitutional Reform problem-solving and performance-management process. The practice of branding a nation “Collapsing” or “Marginally Collapsing” is not to insult, rather it’s to prevent the continued ignoring of correctable problems.

Canada shows three “A”s, 3 Marginal “%”s (which is an advancing grade),  a 0% Trade Balance after fourteen years of trade deficit, and three “C”s; so we give it a very scientific, observation and evidence-based  “Marginally Collapsing” designation.

China also has three “A”s, 4 stronger Marginal “%” advances, and three “C”s, however, its trade surplus is consistent for 28 years and its productivity is much higher than any G7 nation for that time as well. China is “Advancing” …

Every Problem is Solvable

EVERY PROBLEM IS SOLVABLE! We MUST recognize our problems and then also start to fix them, instead of ignoring them and allowing problems/collapses to continue and worsen hidden; as our political groups, governments, and academic theories absolutely encourage today.

Why didn’t Madison add all of the Bible’s human rights to the U.S. Constitution?

James Madison composed the United States of America Bill of Rights in 1791. Why didn’t he add all of the Bible’s human rights at that time?

The answer to that question is most likely selfishness and a poor understanding of civics. When the Bible’s human rights were last updated at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, 307 of the world’s greatest scholars and historians were brought to bear; Madison composed his Bill of Rights in isolation with only the approval of slave owners to consider.

Madison’s two famous quotes were:

The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with Blood for centuries

— and —

The essence of government is power; and power, once lodged in human hands as it must, will ever be liable to abuse

The Bible was not religion – not “Church”, and Mr. Madison was a slave owner writing rules that could be approved by other slaveowners as well. There was no conceivable way in which this group was going to allocate human rights to their “property”.

THIS is the reason that large nations collapse every 60 years whenever they use Madison’s Bill of Rights

Edward Tilley, Chairman CSQ Research - Philosopher, Civic Scientist, Economist

About the Author

Edward Tilley may well be looked back on as our era’s greatest philosopher, because like Aristotle he adamantly refused to follow consensus and direction to adhere to theory and ideology, and insisted to built hard sciences in Civics instead.

CSQ Research’s Chairman is a builder, a disrupter, and a leader; where academics and economists in this age are  entirely theory-based mathematicians without the skills needed to teach the computer science and performance management of 220 countries.

While academics continue to block even the reading of evidence-based science in Grad Schools internationally, Edward builds tools that transition our world from harmful ideology, theory, indoctrination, guesswork, and collapse; to reliable national success and human advance via educations of reality, hard science, and truth.
