Category: HealthCare Coconut Oils and MCT Oils introduce high levels of fatty acids call ketones into the bloodstream. Ketones provide energy for our brain cells very well during times of fasting (times when blood sugar levels are very low). Alzheimer's is also called "diabetes of the brain" because brain cells cannot absorb fuel from blood sugar glucose as the cells become insulin resistant - and so brain cells starve and die. Cells actually metabolize ketones in a much more efficient way, with fewer waste byproducts, than when they process glucose "fuel" as well.
